A Hidden Gem on Sogenji Street: Tomari Soba in Naha
I stopped by this Okinawa soba shop completely by chance while working nearby.
I didn’t do much research beforehand — and honestly, that made the experience even better.
Tomari Soba opened on October 11, 2024, and is located along Sogenji Street in central Naha.
During the day, it specializes in Okinawa soba, and in the evening, it also serves alcohol, making it a great spot for both lunch and dinner.
Location & Access
Tomari Soba is located on busy Sogenji Street, one of Naha’s main roads.
If you’re heading from Asato toward Tomari Port, the restaurant will be on your left-hand side.
A Pizza Hut next door makes it easy to spot, even if it’s your first visit.
There is no dedicated parking, so visitors arriving by car should use nearby coin-operated parking lots.

Atmosphere|Relaxed and Local
The interior feels relaxed and welcoming, with a strong local vibe.
There’s no unnecessary formality here — it’s a place where you can truly enjoy your meal.
With counter seats and tables for groups, it works well whether you’re dining solo or with friends.
The wall is lined with small dish menus, making it easy to imagine coming back at night for drinks.
The Menu|Classic Okinawa Soba and Creative Variations
The base of Tomari Soba is a broth made from bonito flakes and pork, a classic Okinawan style.
- Pork belly soba
- Soft-bone pork rib (soki) soba
- Mixed soba with both pork belly and soki
Beyond the classics, Tomari Soba also offers creative variations such as rich pork bone soba, spicy miso soba, mixed noodles, and dipping-style soba.
Side dishes like homemade gyoza and mentaiko rice round out the menu nicely.
What I Ordered|Mixed Okinawa Soba (¥980)
Since it was my first visit, I went with the basics.
The mixed soba comes with both pork belly and soft-bone pork ribs, making it a very satisfying bowl.
Broth|Rich and Addictive
The broth is bold and rich, with a strong pork flavor balanced by bonito dashi.
It’s slightly salty but also has a gentle sweetness that keeps you coming back for more.
Noodles|Firm and Chewy
The curly noodles are cooked slightly firm, giving them a great bite.
They hold up well against the rich soup and don’t get lost in flavor.
Toppings|Hearty and Flavorful
The pork belly is sweet and savory, while the soft-bone ribs are incredibly tender.
Both toppings feel substantial and satisfying.
Bonus: Spicy Pork Rice
I was also served a small bowl of spicy pork rice as a bonus.
The kick of spice instantly boosted my appetite, even after finishing the soba.
Final Thoughts
Tomari Soba delivers a bold, hearty take on Okinawa soba that meat-lovers will especially enjoy.
Because the fundamentals are solid, the more adventurous menu items are definitely worth exploring next time.
It’s a versatile spot — great for a quick lunch or a relaxed dinner with drinks.
Next time, I’d love to visit on a day off and enjoy it at a slower pace with family.
