Su-man-ume: A Hidden Okinawa Soba Gem in Naha with Authentic Flavors 🍜🌿 Okinawa Eats

🌿 Nestled in a lush green garden, the traditional Okinawan-style red-tiled house of Su-man-ume is truly a sight to behold. This popular Okinawa soba shop is located in Kokuba, Naha City, and it’s famous for its authentic, handcrafted Okinawa soba bowls made by the owner himself.

🍜 Their signature dish, the “Su-man-ume Special Soba”, comes loaded with three types of toppings: tender pork belly (sanmai niku), flavorful pig’s trotters (tebichi), and rich pork spareribs (hon soki). The soup is a carefully balanced blend of bonito, chicken, and pork flavors, crafted to perfectly complement the noodles and toppings with a refined, delicate taste.

🍥 Speaking of noodles, the owner custom-orders them from a noodle factory, specifying the flour mix, thickness, and length. These noodles are thinner and longer than typical Okinawa soba, inspired by Japanese soba, and have a firm texture that keeps you coming back for more—even large portions are no problem for many women!

🚗 Although parking is limited and a bit away from the shop, Su-man-ume is easily accessible by car from central Naha, making it a popular stop for both locals and tourists. The cozy, traditional atmosphere with its green garden and old Okinawan-style roof tiles perfectly complements the delicious food.

🗓️ Open every day except New Year’s and the Bon Festival, from 10 AM on weekdays and 11 AM on weekends and holidays, until around 8:30 PM or until they sell out. Make sure to call ahead to check availability!
